Dr Bigyani Das (Ph.D: Mathematics) is a Computational Research Scientist and has been working at Goddard Space Flight Center, NASA from 1998. She lives in Dayton, Maryland with her husband Dr Naresh Chandra Das and three daughters. She was the topper in Mathematics (1984) with four gold medals to her credit from Utkal University. Bigyani has received post-doctoral training in biomedical engineering from Johns Hopkins University and was an Oak Ridge Fellow working at US FDA. Bigyani is a multi-talented personality with talents in writing, music, drama and leadership (Author: Oriya short story collection “Samparka”, Lyricist: Oriya song collection “Manataranga”; Director: 2006 “Konark, The Monumental Oriya Heritage”).
Dr Bigyani Das has been serving both OSA National and OSA Washington DC in many roles, as Secretary (2005-2007), Editor (2003-2005), Cultural Coordinator (2006), Odia Poetry Reading Organizer (1999-2001, 2003-2005, 2007), Cultural Participant and Representative (1996, 1999-Continuing), Seminar Speaker and Organizing Committee (2003, 2005, 2008). She is a trained leader (Advanced Toastmaster Gold: 2007; Area 42 Governor: 2003-2004; President of Goddard Toastmasters: 2002-2003, 2006-2007; Youth Leadership Coordinator: 2003-2004) and a sincere community volunteer (JOGA, Hindu Temple, MD, Editor of Chirantana, JOGASUTRA etc.). Her recent contribution is “OSA Member Handbook”. Bigyani’s leadership style is based on the theme, “Be the change that you want to see in the world”.
